REI awards Grant for Palmer Land Trust Project: “Building Community through Open Space Enhancement”
Outdoor retailing giant REI recently awarded Palmer Land Trust their “Building Community through Open Space Enhancement” grant. Palmer was one of four local recipients and will receive a $4840.00 award. Grant monies will be used to promote community environmental stewardship of two small, Palmer-owned properties in a neighborhood on the west side of Colorado Springs. The properties, Mesa Wildlife Preserve and Rawles Open Space will undergo long overdue projects, including elimination of noxious weeds and trees, old fences and litter, and building of a trail spur to a scenic overlook.
